3DS troubles are emerging, when Nintendo announced that the price of the 3DS was being cut from $250 to $169 on July 7th, 2011. Nintendo defended the price cut by saying it is a better way for more people to enjoy the great top-tier franchises releasing later this year.
Nintendo of America’s President Reggie Fils-Aime made this statement:

"For anyone who was on the fence about buying a Nintendo 3DS, this is a huge motivation to buy now. We are giving shoppers every incentive to pick up a Nintendo 3DS, from an amazing new price to a rapid-fire succession of great games. "

For those who bought or intend to buy a 3DS before the price drop Nintendo is rewarding them with 20 free downloadable games. These free 3DS games are available to anyone who connects their 3DS to the Nintendo eshop before the August 12th price drop. Connecting to the shop will automatically enroll you into the Nintendo 3DS Ambassadors program. The first 10 games made available to 3DS Ambassadors include NES Virtual Console games like Super Mario Bros, Donkey Kong Jr, Balloon Fight, Ice Climber and The Legend of Zelda. All these games are scheduled to become paid downloads sometime after the price cut, but Ambassadors get to download them first and for free. Later this year 3DS Ambassadors will be able to download 10 more games for free. These free downloads will be ports of some popular Gameboy Advance games like Super Mario Advance 3, Yoshi’s Island, Metroid Fusion, WarioWare Inc : Mega Microgame$ and Mario vs. Donkey Kong. Nintendo also states that these GBA downloads will only be available to Ambassadors, and that the company has no current plans to make these games available to non-Ambassadors.
Nintendo outlined the final months of the year starting with Star Fox 64 3D and its September 9th 2011 release date. Super Mario 3D is up next with a November release date. For the month of December expect Mario Kart and Kid Icarus Uprising, a perfect duo for the holiday season.
